YOUR VEHICLE, CONNECTED

Privacy

What we collect, why, who it goes to, and how to get it back or delete it. In effect 12 October 2026.

The short version: your garage is yours. Records are readable only by your own account, except for a vehicle you deliberately share with someone. Your VIN goes to the U.S. government database when you decode it, your questions go to a language-model provider when you ask the assistant, and nothing goes to advertisers or data brokers, ever.

What we collect

Everything below is information you entered or uploaded yourself. AutoGuide does not connect to your vehicle, read its computer, or track its location.

Your account
Your name and email address, and the sign-in method you used. Authentication is handled by our platform provider; AutoGuide never sees or stores your password.
Your vehicles
Year, make, model, trim, engine, drivetrain, mileage, nickname, licence plate if you enter one, and your VIN if you enter it.
Maintenance and service
Reminders you set, services you record, the shop or dealer who did the work, what it cost, and the mileage and date.
What you have spent
Fuel, insurance, registration, repairs and any other costs you record, including fill-up volumes and odometer readings.
Problems and diagnostics
Symptoms you report, answers you give in guided troubleshooting, fault codes you look up, photos or audio you attach to an issue, and notes you write.
Specifications you record
Figures you copy from your own door placard, filler cap, fuse legend or owner’s manual, together with where you read them.
Documents you upload
Insurance cards, titles, registrations, receipts, warranty paperwork and manual pages. These are stored as private files, reachable only through a short-lived signed link issued to your signed-in session.
Coverage, shops and inspections
Warranties you record from your own paperwork, shops you add, and checklists you complete on cars you are considering buying.
Your questions to the assistant
The question you ask, the vehicle context attached to it, and the answer returned. These are kept so you can return to a previous answer.
Searches that found nothing
When a fault code, guide or help search returns nothing, we record the term, which kind of search it was, and the vehicle it concerned, so the library can be extended. This is the only product-analytics record we keep, and it is readable by you and by an administrator.

Who we send it to

Our application platform (Base44)
Hosts the application, stores your records and files, handles sign-in, sends email on our behalf, and provides the language-model and file-reading integrations described below.
Processor acting on our instructions.
NHTSA (U.S. Department of Transportation)
When you decode a VIN, that VIN is sent to the NHTSA vPIC database to return the year, make, model, engine and drivetrain. When you check recalls, the make, model and year are sent to the NHTSA recalls service. NHTSA is a U.S. government service and these requests leave our systems.
Only the VIN, or the make, model and year — never your name, email or records.
The language-model provider behind the assistant
When you ask the assistant a question, your question and the vehicle context attached to it are sent for processing. When you import a maintenance schedule, the pages you upload are read the same way.
Routed through our platform’s integration. Do not type anything into the assistant you would not want processed by a third-party model.
People you invite
If you share a vehicle, the person you invite can see that vehicle, what is due on it, open issues, recent service and your recorded specifications — and, with contribute rights, can add a fill-up or report a symptom.
Your ownership costs, your document vault and your assistant conversations are never shared, with anyone, by this feature.

What we never do

  • We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with data brokers.
  • We do not run advertising on the application and we do not build advertising profiles.
  • We do not read your document vault for any purpose other than serving it back to you, or reading a maintenance schedule you explicitly ask us to import.
  • We do not share your records with a shop, dealer, insurer, lender or manufacturer. When you produce a shop dossier or a vehicle passport, that file is generated in your browser and it is yours to hand over or not.
  • We do not track you across other websites.

Email we send you

Maintenance reminders are sent by email only if you turn them on, and only when something you recorded is actually due. You can turn them off at any time from the Maintenance page. We do not send marketing email to your account address without asking you first.

How long we keep it

We keep your records for as long as your account exists, because a service history is only useful as a complete history. Delete a record and it is removed from your garage. Ask us to close your account and we delete your vehicles, records, documents and conversations.

Your choices

  • Take it with you. Every list exports to CSV, and the vehicle passport and shop dossier export as PDF, from inside the app, without asking us.
  • Correct it. Every record is editable by you.
  • Delete it. Delete individual records yourself, or write to us to close the account entirely.
  • Stop sharing. Remove someone’s access from the Household access page and it ends immediately.
  • Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and other states with privacy statutes have rights to know, correct, delete and to opt out of sale or targeted advertising. We do not sell data or advertise, and we honour access, correction and deletion requests at the address below.

Children

AutoGuide is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Security, stated plainly

Records are scoped to the account that created them, enforced at the data layer rather than only in the interface. Documents are stored privately and served through short-lived signed links. Shared access is served through a narrow read that returns only the fields listed above, and an invitation is honoured only when it came from the vehicle’s own owner. No system is immune from compromise; if a breach affects your information we will tell you.

Changes and contact

If we change this notice we will update the date at the top and, for a change that materially affects you, tell you in the application. Questions, requests and deletion requests: privacy@jelksconsulting.com.
